It all started when...

the complex dualities of American culture and race throughout the world evolved as well as a never-ending issue with mankind around the world. This film, Deus Ex Machina, is well needed to represent the pain of Black America. In a seven-minute short film directed and written by filmmaker Armani Martin, it showcases the complex systematic oppression of black men.

This dramatic piece shines light on some, but not all of the evolved oppressions of impoverished neighborhoods such as adaptation to one’s environment, police brutality, racial profiling, the effect of one’s emotional health, drug and gang violence. The story of an earnest boy and his two friends on a journey to school that features the conflicts and issues black men face every time they step outside of their home.
